The Three Energies Behind Every Ritual

Long before skincare had routines, it had rhythms.

What Are “Doshas”?

In Ayurveda, everything - the body, the mind, the natural world is made of five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and space. The doshas are how those elements combine and express themselves in a person:

Vata - air + space. Governs movement, creativity, circulation.

Pitta - fire + water. Governs transformation, metabolism, intensity.

Kapha - earth + water. Governs structure, stability, lubrication.

Most people carry a blend of all three, with one or two more dominant. Balance isn't about becoming a different dosha; it's about giving your dominant energy what it needs to stay in harmony, rather than fighting against your nature.

Vata: The Air Element

Qualities: Dry, light, cold, mobile, subtle.

Controls: movement, thought, circulation, nerve impulses.

When it's balanced, Vata shows up as creativity, quick thinking, and lightness. When it's out of balance, that same energy turns restless: dry skin, fine lines that appear early, a complexion that feels thin and easily unsettled by wind, cold, or stress.

What Vata skin needs: Deep nourishment, oil-based hydration, warmth, consistency. Vata skin punishes an inconsistent routine faster than any other type - it thrives on ritual.

Recommended for Vata:
Bakuchi Rejuvenating Cream: rich, restorative, built to counter the dryness and premature fine lines Vata imbalance brings.
Hydrating Rose Mist: a moment of moisture and calm that Vata skin can return to throughout the day, not just at the end of it.

Pitta: The Fire Element

Qualities: Hot, sharp, light, oily, intense.

Controls: transformation, digestion, metabolism, and in skin, the processes that show up as heat: inflammation, sensitivity, breakouts, redness.

Balanced Pitta brings clarity, sharp focus, and a warm, healthy glow. Out of balance, that fire turns inward - irritation, flushing, a complexion that reacts before it settles.
What Pitta skin needs: Calming, anti-inflammatory botanicals, cooling textures, and a routine that soothes rather than stimulates.

Recommended for Pitta:
Manjistha Glow Serum: Manjistha has been used in Ayurveda for centuries specifically to cool and clarify Pitta-driven redness and heat.
Hydrating Rose Mist: Rose is one of Ayurveda's most reliably cooling botanicals, ideal for calming a Pitta complexion mid-day.

Kapha: The Earth Element

Qualities: Heavy, slow, cold, oily, stable.

Controls: structure, the body's ability to hold, lubricate, and endure.

Balanced Kapha shows up as strength, calm, and glowing, resilient skin. Out of balance, that same stability turns to stagnation: congestion, dullness, sluggish cell turnover, a complexion that feels weighed down rather than nourished.

What Kapha skin needs: Stimulation, clarity, gentle detoxification, and lighter textures that encourage renewal rather than density.

Recommended for Kapha:
Kumkumadi Saffron Serum: traditionally used to brighten and stimulate circulation, countering the dullness Kapha imbalance brings.
Kumkumadi Radiance Masque: a deeper reset for congestion, designed to clarify rather than sit heavy on the skin.
Geranium Purifying Cleanser: purifying, oil-balancing, built for a complexion that needs less weight, not more.

Your Dosha Is a Starting Point.

No one is purely one dosha, and no dosha is static - stress, seasons, and life stages shift the balance constantly. What Ayurveda offers isn't a fixed label. It's a way of listening to what your skin is actually asking for, instead of reaching for whatever's trending.

That's the entire premise Kiara is built on.
